Browsing your entries

You can see all of your entries in the Entry List at the top left corner, or the left pane in Landscape mode. Entries are sorted by the Date they were created by default, but you can optionally sort by Title as well using the top bar. The edit button allows you to remove an entry. You can also rename an entry by selecting it while in the edit mode. To view or edit a Journal Entry, select it in the list.

Renaming an entry

There are two ways to rename an entry. The first is by opening the Entry List and selecting the entry you wish to rename while in the edit mode. This brings up the entry info box and you can assign it a new name and theme there. You can also just tap the entry’s title on the main screen, which lets you edit it right there.

Changing your Font

You can change the font of your entry by selecting Options and choosing a new font. It will immediately apply the newly selected font to your document. You can also change the font size by touching the A+ and A- buttons in the top toolbar.

Working with Photos

You can easily add photos using the Options menu in the top right corner of the app. Touching Add Photo will bring up your Photo Albums list and allow you to pick any of your photos there to attach to a Journal Entry. Once you’ve added the photos you want, touch anywhere off the list and it will return to the main screen. You can see your photos hiding off to the right of the screen. Touch them to bring them out, and again to put them away. If you have a bunch of photos added to an entry, you can scroll through them here as well. If you want to remove photos from an entry, just select Remove Photo from the Options menu.

Searching for an entry

If you’re looking for something in your Journal but can’t remember where it is, just use the search function. Touch the spyglass in the top left and a search menu will open. Type in anything you remember from the entry and eJournal will filter out anything it finds containing what you’ve typed. Search results are ordered by their name, and the search looks through not only the title of each entry but through the entire text as well.

Sharing your entries

If you want to send an entry to a friend, or maybe to yourself to back up your thoughts, you can use the Sharing function in the Options menu. You can either export the entry exactly as you see it with the theme and all as an image file to email, or only send an email containing the text from your entry. In order to use the Sharing function, Email must be configured on your iPad.

Getting new Themes

eJournal comes with many themes pre-loaded, but if you’re looking for something new you can always get extras. Select Get More Themes from the Option menu to bring up a list of new themes available for purchase. Once you load a theme, it will be available for use on any of your new or current Journal Entries. You can always re-download a theme you’ve purchased in the past for free in case it ever gets removed from your iPad, or you remove and reinstall eJournal. You’ll never have to pay for a theme twice.
